This Summer at Birdsview Brewing

Back in November we did a Brewery Profile of Birdsview Brewing  — a place unfamiliar to most of us downstream city folk. Conveniently located between Sedro Woolley and Concrete on Highway 20, it’s a great brewpub and we highly recommend a visit next time you are going over the North Cascade Highway. Bill and Kris…

Signs of Life in Chilliwack

We found two surprising things in Chilliwack, BC. One, the traffic is horrible. Two, they have a great little brewery. We just stopped in and visited Larry and Brian at Old Yale Brewing Company. HOPS! Yes, really. The pale ale (single hopped with Cascades) is simple and delicious. The IPA is as aggressively hopped as…

They have a red ale that is acceptable, a pale ale that does not completely suck, a hefe that we actually like,…

Safeco Field – The Beer Time Machine

Last Friday night I went to Safeco Field to watch Randy Johnson pitch against the Mariners. It was a bit of a time warp, not only in baseball terms but in beer terms as well. It was a very poignant Seattle moment in the 6th inning when Randy left the game to a roaring, standing…

A New Federal Beer Tax? How Un-American!

Yesterday was Memorial Day — a day for us Americans to collectively thank the people who made the supreme sacrifice for America. Back in the other Washington, lawmakers are trying to figure out how to pay for expanding health insurance for what could be as many as 50 million uninsured Americans. While they are not…
