2nd Annual Women in Beer Celebration – How You Can Participate

Women brewing beer. The concept is not new. In fact, men brewing beer is a relatively recent phenomenon in terms of our human history. Archeology suggests, with much certainty, that brewing beer was a job performed by women for all but the most recent centuries of our species’ existence. Today the world of craft beer is largely dominated by men, but that is starting to change. On top of that, some women played crucial roles in the craft beer revolution of the past 30 years. Thirsty Sisters’ Women In Beer is a celebration of the role that women play (past and present) in the world of beer.

The women of Pike Brewing Company are busily planning the 2nd Annual Women In Beer event (Monday, May 13). It’s a celebration of women and beer, created by women, but it is open to all. The event is part of the larger Seattle Beer Week celebration. The event organizers are seeking women-operated food and drink businesses to participate in the event. Below you will find more information about the event, including the important contact information. This is certain to be a great event again this year. The Washington Beer Blog heartily endorses this event and encourages women-owned businesses to get involved.

Here is information straight from the source:

Seattle Beer Week 2013 is rapidly approaching. The women of Pike Brewing Company are busy planning the second annual WOMEN IN BEER event to be held in the Museum Room and Brewery at Pike Brewing Company, Monday, May 13, 2013.

Last year Pike and other Seattle Beer Broads gathered “Women in Beer” to celebrate our historic traditions, and the current roles we play in the beer industry together. Collectively we’re: brewers, cellar workers, suppliers, sales reps, retailers of beer, and women beer writers, and, of course, enthusiastic consumers. “Thirsty Sisters 2012” was a resounding success with over 300 people in attendance, and over $1,000 raised for Planned Parenthood; not only was it incredibly fun, but it was one of the most successful events of Seattle Beer Week!

We invite you to participate in this amazing women’s celebration, created by women but open to all! For our second annual event, we again welcome women-run food and drink businesses to join us as vendors at the event. We are asking for donations of all products, as this year’s proceeds will once again benefit Planned Parenthood, a federally recognized 501(3)c charitable organization.
