Airways Brewing’s Cider Week Celebrations

We are now in the throes of Washington Cider Week. I know that many of you beer lovers also appreciate good cider, so I probably could be doing more to help promote this ongoing celebration of cider. Pubs and bottleshops around the state are hosting all sorts of cider tasting events all week long. At least one brewery is getting in on the action. I suppose you could say it’s a show of solidarity – craft brewers and artisan cider makers are practically kin, after all.

Our friends down at Airways Brewing (blog sponsor) informed us today of the events they’re hosting this week at the Airways Beer & Bistro in downtown Kent. One of the events features cider from Seattle Cider Company, which is joined at the hip with Two Beers Brewing Company (blog sponsor). In that case, cider and beer actually are kin.

Visit the Cider Week website for a complete list of events.

We’ll be pairing one of our most requested ciders, Tieton’s Cherry Cider, with a whitefish salad with mangoes, micro cilantro, and gazpacho sauce. Available from 11am-10pm. Jennie from Tieton will be at the Bistro from 5-7pm to talk about the cider, and maybe bring a few surprises.

September 14: Seattle Cider Co.

Headed over to watch the Thunderbirds at Showare on Saturday night? Stop by Airways, and be part of the Kent debut of Seattle Cider Company. They’ll be taking over four of our taps with their Dry, Semi-Sweet, Gin Botanical, and New England ciders. We’ll also be carrying bottles of their Pumpkin Spice, and their gorgeous cans of the Dry and Semi-Sweet. We’ll be serving up rustic sourdough flatbread with cambazola pears, pancetta, and arugula; smoked salmon quesadillas with charred onion vinaigrette salad; and blueberry smash cake with lavender. Available between 11am-10pm. Come by between 5-7pm to meet Eric, and maybe win something!

September 15: Schilling Cider

Finishing off the week with something a little sweeter, we’ll be serving up another crowd favorite made right in Auburn: Schilling’s delicious Ginger Cider with homemade ginger ale pound cake. Available from 11am-7pm. Colin Schilling will be at the Bistro from 5-7pm.
