Ales for ALS Kickoff Party this Saturday at Bale Breaker Brewing

Join Ales for ALS this Saturday, July 18 for a kickoff event at Bale Breaker Brewing’s taproom in Yakima. This is the official launch of the annual Ales for ALS program. Details about the event are below.

Ales for ALS is a program created by Loftus Ranches and Hop Union to benefit ALS research (ALS, a.k.a. Lou Gehrig’s Disease). Each year Loftus Ranches (one of Washington’s esteemed hop farms) and Hop Union create a unique, exclusive blend of hops that participating breweries use to create beers that benefit the cause. This year five Washington breweries and four Oregon breweries are involved in the program (listed below). In all, more than 70 breweries across the country will produce beers using the ALS hop blend.

This year, the Ales for ALS hop blend is a combination of Equinox, Mosaic, and five experimental hop varieties. To be clear, this does not mean each brewery will use each of those seven hops. Rather, Loftus and Hop Union have created one unique hop that is a blend of those seven hops. That’s what each brewery will use.

Below is a short video with more information about Ales for ALS.

This summer’s Ales for ALS Kickoff Fundraiser will again feature live music, food vendors, and the release of this year’s Ales for ALS beer, “Bubba’s Brew.” Plus, Bale Breaker will donate $1 per pint of ANY beer sold on July 18 to the ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI), so come raise a glass for a great cause!

Can’t attend in person?  You can support our efforts by donating through the ALS TDI website or mailing a check to ALS TDI at 300 Technology Square, Suite 400, Cambridge MA 02139.  (Please make a note that it supports Bale Breaker’s ALS for ALS fundraiser!)

To learn more about the Ales for ALS program, visit their website, where you can also see the complete list of participating breweries.
