American Brewing Co – 2nd Anniversary Celebration, March 2nd

American Brewing Company is preparing to celebrate its second anniversary with a party at the brewery on Saturday, March 2. It is quite amazing what they’ve accomplished in two short years. The Washington Beer Blog would like to extend our congratulations to Neil Fallon, Skip Madsen and the rest of the crew at American Brewing.

The event will include great beer, barbecue food, and live music by Steve Stefanowicz, an acoustic rock and blues performer extraordinaire. I encourage you to request, loudly, that he play War Pigs. It’s amazing. Although, Suite: Judy Blue Eyes aint too bad either. Along with the usual suspects, American Brewing plans to serve Flying Monkey Dogfight Pale Ale – the beer they brewed for Emerald City Comicon 2013. We broke the story of that beer here on the blog a couple of weeks ago (read it).

Here is more information straight from the brewery:

Along with their flagship beers-American Blonde, Breakaway IPA and Caboose Oatmeal Stout-American Brewing Company will proudly present their newest release, “Flying Monkey Dogfight Pale Ale”.

“We were presented with a very unique opportunity this year”, says owner, Neil Fallon. “The Emerald City Comicon organizers approached us about brewing an official beer for this year’s convention.” Brewers Skip Madsen and Dan Payson set about creating a perfectly balanced pale ale that has a great citrusy nose. Though hop-forward it finishes dry and will be an excellent session beer at just 5.7% ABV (Alcohol by Volume). “The team at Comicon put all of their creative talent behind the marketing designs,” continues Fallon, “we’ll have limited edition glass growlers, t-shirts, and aluminum growlers for sale at our Anniversary Celebration”. For more information about the Flying Monkey Dogfight Pale Ale, please visit their blog site.

In conjunction with this celebration, they are incorporating a fundraising event for the Edmonds Food Bank. Bring a donation of canned goods and receive raffle tickets for a chance to win American Brewing Company swag, while helping to fill the shelves of the local food bank. “We are currently feeding 1,800 to 2,000 people each week,” says Peggy Kennedy, Director of the Edmonds Food Bank. According to Ms. Kennedy they are providing for approximately 370 families who shop for about a three day supply at each visit. They are in constant need of replenishing their store so any and all donations are gladly accepted.

In its second year of operations, the American Brewing Company:

  • Was named “Biggest Overachiever” in the Seattle Met Magazine’s Cheap Eats and Beer issue, July 2012
  • Brave American Brown Ale was named one of the Best Seasonal Beers in Seattle Magazine, October 2012
  • Named “Rookie of the Year” at the American Heart Association’s 2012 South Sound Heart and Stroke Walk. An award presented to first-time fundraising companies that demonstrate an outstanding effort as a team in raising funds for the Heart and Stroke Walk.
  • Was awarded a Bronze Medal at the 2012 Great American Beer Festival for their “Polska Porter” making this the second year in a row that they’ve medaled at this prestigious national competition.
  • Breakaway IPA was listed number one in the Top 10 West Coast IPAs in Beer West Magazine, Winter 2012/2013.

American Brewing Company is extending their hours for this event in the hopes that it will allow everyone a chance to stop by and join in the celebration.
