Aslan Brewing Now Up & Brewing in Bellingham

Aslan Brewing Company recently started brewing. All seven of its fermenters are full and the Bellingham brewery expects to start selling beer next week.

The team at Aslan Brewing started putting the plan together in September of 2012. It was about one year before they went to work building the brewery on North Forrest Street in downtown Bellingham. The brewery is now up and brewing; the restaurant/pub is not, but they’re shooting for the first week of May. Fingers crossed.

Visit the company’s website and view the video on the Team page to get an idea what these guys are all about.

aslan_brewingAn important thing to note, Aslan Brewing is a USDA certified organic brewery. The Aslan Brewing team is comprised of owner Jack Lamb, head brewer Frank Trosset, and general manager Pat Haynes.

“We are going to be canning, however the cans are still about 4-6 weeks out,” Frank Trosset told me. “Our Pilsner, Ginger Rye, and IPA will be the first three cans we put out. In the meantime, we will be selling growlers, growlettes, 1/2 and 1/6 barrels kegs on premise.”

Frank says the release schedule is as follows:

“We will have many more beers following after that as well.”

The brewery plans to do a brewers  night event at McKay’s Taphouse in Bellingham on April 15th.

Anyone interested in getting the beer (pubs, etc.) should visit the Wholesale page on the company’s website.

Wondering about the name? Aslan is one of the main characters in C. S. Lewis’ Chronicals of Narnia. Aslan was a lion. In fact, Aslan was a great lion and the rightful King of Narnia.  The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe was one of my favorite books when I was a kid.
