A Beer to Benefit Firefighters, by Silver City Brewery

Updated, Friday March 2nd. Go to bottom of post to see updates.

Kim and I live very near a fire station. The firefighters are our neighbors. A while ago, one of the firefighters asked me if the sound of the engines leaving the garage and the other inherent noises of a fire station were bothersome. I thought the question was absurd. At 3:00 a.m. when the garage door goes up and they start the engines, it is anything but bothersome. For crying out loud, somebody’s house is on fire. I’m not going to complain that it isn’t mine. In truth, they are very respectful and we hardly even know they are there. We love our firefighting neighbors. They rock!

When most people run out, firefighters run in. To say the profession is noble is a gross understatement. Firefighters deserve our undying gratitude and anything else we can give them. Silver City Brewery agrees with me on this one. Below is the press release about the new beer they are releasing to benefit the Firefighters Benevolence Fund. The label artworks is amazing, in my opinion. I don’t doubt the beer is excellent as well.

Silver City Brewery has helped raise money for the Professional Fire Fighters of Kitsap County Benevolent fund every year since 2001 through their annual Oktoberfest Celebration. In that time, the Oktoberfest event has helped raise over $40,000 for the Professional Firefighters of Kitsap County Benevolent Fund.

Saint Florian IPA will raise funds wherever it is sold in Washington. Of this Brewmaster Don Spencer said “We are very honored to present Saint Florian IPA as way to help raise funds for the Benevolent Fund around the Puget Sound. We hope it will also help raise awareness about the Benevolent Fund, as well as the story of Saint Florian, the Patron Saint of Fire Fighters.”

Saint Florian IPA will debut at Silver City Restaurant in Silverdale, WA on Monday March 5th.  A special cask of Saint Florian will be tapped and presented to local firefighters on Wednesday March 7th 5:00pm at Silver City Restaurant as well.  Saint Florian IPA will arrive in retail stores in 22oz bottles & on draft around the Puget Sound throughout the month of March.
