Beer in the Great Outdoors: Marination Ma Kai

This is the next in our ongoing series about Seattle’s best beer patios. Today we present the best view of the city, accompanied by an amazing spam slider and a tasty brew.

On the shores of Elliott Bay in West Seattle, looking across the water at the city, Marination Ma Kai awaits you with delicious food, an ample selection of craft beer, and the best view of the city imaginable. The patio area is large, as it should be in this location. Watch the marine traffic go back and forth. Watch the city glow just after sunset. Do some people watching. This is an active place, just around the corner from Alki Beach. We did a post last September when it originally opened.

The food is legendary. Marination Mobile (the food truck version of Ma Kai offering the same food) has won a number of “Best Of” awards since it hit the streets in 2009. At Marination Ma Kai you get the same Hawaiian-inspired cuisine with a seat and an amazing view. Marination Ma Kai is located at Seacrest Park, which is where the West Seattle Water Taxi docks. That’s a great way to get to Marination Ma Kai from the waterfront or downtown.

You will not be disappointed with the view, the beer or the food.

1) Walk through the front door and order food at the register. They’ll give you a pager so you can come pick up your food when it is ready.

2) Step around the corner and sidle up to the bar to order your beer.
