Beer Release – 2018 Hop Idol from Reuben’s Brews

It’s the Reuben’s Brews version of a hop-forward, pro-am brewing competition. They invited homebrewers to submit their hoppiest creations for Hop Idol consideration. A panel of judges evaluated the beers and picked a favorite, which they brewed on the big system at Reuben’s Brews. They are releasing this year’s Hop Idol beer at the brewery on Saturday, May 5th.

Here’s how the whole thing went down:

Earlier this year, homebrewers from around the region – and a few other states – sent us their best hoppy brews in hopes of being crowned our 2018 Hop Idol. After tasting and evaluating the 116 entries, our panel of judges named Alex Kuyper’s hazy IPA as the winner!

Alex joined the Reuben’s team to brew his creation at our brewery – and now you can taste it for yourselves! This hazy pale ale has a fruit-forward nose with notes of sage, floral, jasmine, a juicy body and balanced bitterness.
