Beer Release – Barrel-Aged Didactic, Justice Brewing

Justice Brewing in Everett just announced the release of a new barrel-aged beer. Here is the info straight from the brewery:

Barrel Aged Didactic 2016
Brewed August 2014, Bottled March 1st 2016. Aged in a Westland Distilling Whiskey barrel. ABV 8%, IBU 20. Bottle size: 500ML 16.9oz

Didactic is a more aggressive American take on a West Flanders classic, the Flemish Brown. Mildly acidic, caramel malt flavors with dark fruits. Notes of vanilla and whiskey from the extended aging in oak from Westland Distillery and hints of leather and sour cherry. Unlike kettle soured beers this one aged the hard way with a ton of patience, originally planned for release in 2015 but it just wasn’t ready. I think the waiting paid off.
