Local Brewery Supporting Local Heroes
with LEAD THE WAY IPA

Tacoma, WA – Narrows Brewing Co. announces a new beer in its lineup; LEAD THE WAY IPA. The 6.8% ABV, 80 IBU India Pale Ale will be released during Tacoma Beer Week at a party on Thursday August 6, 2015.  Brewed with NW 2 row malted barley, hopped with all Yakima hops including Magnum, Willamette, Columbus and S07270, and triple dry hopped; the last addition being whole hop Cascade. It has an awesome nose and finishes with the NW style IPA kick. LEAD THE WAY IPA is Narrows Brewing’s nod to The Pointe du Hoc Foundation (PDHF), who supports the special operations warriors of 2d Ranger Battalion, stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM).

The idea for the beer started after the Brewery formed a special bond with a Ranger and his wife. They were in the taproom on the night before one of his deployments.  That first meeting turned into a friendship and led to an introduction to the Ranger Community and the Pointe du Hoc Foundation. Named for the 10 story cliffs Rangers scaled on D-Day, the PDHF is a 501©3 whose mission is to honor the courage, fortitude, and selfless sacrifices of 2d Battalion Rangers and their families who have served in the unit from WWII to the present.

During the release party at Narrows Brewing, $1.00 for each LEAD THE WAY draft sold will be donated by the brewery to the PDHF.  On an ongoing bases, for every bottle of LTW beer sold, 50 cents will be donated to PDHF. Brewery Managing Partner Scott Wagner said, “We are a local brewery supporting our local heroes.  We want these guys to know how much we appreciate what they do. Honoring them with a label, and creating an ongoing donation to PDHF was a fun way to do it.”

The Foundation cultivates relationships with supporters of the 2d Ranger Battalion. It provides support through educational funding, life skills development, counseling, and employment assistance.  The Foundation also sustains the memorial park, constructed in the Ranger compound at JBLM, built as a lasting tribute to their fallen. An upcoming fundraising event is the Ranger Regatta being heldAugust 27, 2015.  The regatta is being sponsored by PDHF and the Tacoma Yacht Club and includes a reception, a Puget Sound Regatta, and a Salmon Bake and gathering at Wollochet Bay.  Information and donation opportunities are available atwww.pointeduhocfoundation.com
