Bellingham Tap Takeovers, a Prelude to Beer Week

Bellingham Beer Week runs from September 11 thru 21 with events celebrating the city’s vibrant and growing craft beer culture. As a prelude to beer week, there will be two Bellingham Tap Takeover events, one in Vancouver, BC and the other in Seattle.

On August 31st at 6:00 pm, Bellingham breweries take over the Alibi Room in Vancouver. September 3rd, at 6:00 pm they’ll do the same thing at Naked City Brewery and Taphouse in Seattle. At each event all six Bellingham breweries will be represented: Aslan Brewing, Boundary Bay Brewing, Chuckanut Brewery, Kulshan Brewing, Wander Brewing, and Menace/The Local Brewery. Each brewery will pour at least one beer.

To commemorate Bellingham Beer Week, all six breweries teamed up to create NxNW Lager, which was brewed recently at Chuckanut Brewing (see our story about the collaborative brew day). The beer will be tapped at select locations on September 11th, kicking off Bellingham Beer Week.

NxNW Lager is a true Washington varietal beer, brewed using malt from the Skagit Valley and hops from the Yakima Valley. Skagit Valley Malting Company provided the Copeland and Alba barley and Yakima hop growers provided the Chinook, Cascade, Amarillo, and Mt Hood hops. The beer is described as a zesty, citrus- and pine-scented, full-flavored and easy-drinking lager, clocking in at 6% ABV and 39 IBU. Only available on tap at very selected accounts in Bellingham during beer week (all the local breweries plus Copper Hog, Elizabeth Station, McKays Taphouse, and Cliff House Restaurant).
