Black Raven Brewing releases barrel-aged version of its Scotch Ale

Second Sight Strong Scotch Ale, from Black Raven Brewing, is one of my favorite beers of its style. I actually drank one just the other night as was, once again, wooed by its malty, rich and robust character. Splinters is the bourbon barrel aged version of the same beer. This Friday, November 9th the brewery releases this year’s batch of Splinters. Here are the release notes from the brewery.

Release date: Friday, November 9th

Splinters is the bourbon barrel aged version of our Second Sight Strong Scotch Ale. Aged for many months in various bourbon barrels, Splinters picks up the best of the barrel for added complexity of flavor. All of the barrels are then combined and the beer is aged for another month in a stainless steel tank to meld and mature. This beer is a limited release seasonal that is produced and bottled annually.
