Brave Horse Tavern stages benefit for Food Lifeline

This Saturday, July 30th, from 2:00 – 6:00, the Brave Horse Tavern is staging a benefit for Food Lifeline. The courtyard will be converted to a beer garden. Live music will fill the air, as will the smell of burgers and brats. Beers will cost $2.00.

When we first visited the Brave Horse Tavern, we really appreciated the beer list. The dark, rustic wood interior was inviting and warm. The large windows and skylights bathed the room in natural light. The food was delicious. The shuffleboard tables were a nice touch, too. But that’s all inside. Summer is finally here and we all want to be outside if at all possible.

Sometime later in the spring we visited the Brave Horse again after the weather had started to turn for the better and discovered that they had added lovely outdoor patio seating. What’s more, we learned that the lower courtyard was available for larger events (as in, small festivals). The thought of finding a courtyard full of people drinking beer in the Westlake neighborhood on some sunny afternoon made me happy.

This Saturday afternoon, $10 gets you a Brave Horse bratwurst or hamburger with chips and a coupon for a free pretzel.  Also, it gets you into the beer garden where some of the Brave Horse’s favorite breweries will be pouring beer for just $2.00.

All proceeds from this event benefit Food Lifeline. Here are a couple of Food Lifeline facts for you. One dollar provides a full day of nutritious meals for a hungry individual. Ten dollars provides lunch for a month for a hungry individual.

If you see us there, buy us a beer. They only cost two bucks and we’ll likely return the favor.
