BREW Seattle – A New Beer Festival Focusing on Seattle

Introducing BREW Seattle – a beer festival focused exclusively on Seattle-brewed beers. And because you’re reading about it here first, you can save $5 on tickets.

By now, many of you have seen the October 2013 issue of Seattle magazine, which features beer on the cover and a couple dozen pages of beer-focused content within. As the final touches were coming together on the “beer issue,” the magazine’s event staff contacted me and expressed interest in putting together a beer and food event. I was happy to share my insight and ideas. We put our heads together and came up with a plan: BREW Seattle, a Seattle-focused beer festival produced by Seattle magazine. Early-bird tickets go on sale this Thursday.

In all, 21 Seattle breweries will pour over 50 different beers at BREW Seattle, which takes place on Thursday, November 14th in Pioneer Square (details below). Along with the beer, enjoy bite-sized treats from local restaurants and pubs. The breweries represent a mix of Seattle’s original craft breweries and Seattle’s youngest craft breweries. The object of this event is to focus exclusively on Seattle-brewed beers. The thought being, with so many breweries in Seattle, why look outside the city? Sure, countless great beers are brewed beyond the confines of the emerald city, but there is plenty of great beer brewed right here within the city limits. Think about it this way. The venue accommodates 21 breweries, which means we only have room for about half of the city’s breweries to participate.

This event celebrates the Seattle’s 30-year history as a craft beer mecca. This was one of the birthplaces of the American craft beer revolution and the city has never looked back. If you want an event that offers beer from a wider geographic area, virtually every other beer festival in the world can accommodate you. There are plenty of beer festivals that focus on Washington beer, Belgian beer, winter beer, and even Great American Beer. But this one focuses on Seattle beer. And where better to do it than in the heart of a city that is now home to almost 40 breweries.
