Copperworks releases IPA Cask Finished Gin

Copperworks Distilling of Seattle teamed up with Elliott Bay Brewing to create Copperworks IPA Cask Finished Gin. It is available now at the Copperworks Distilling tasting room an via their online store. Here’s the story of this uncommon collaborative creation.

“Last year, the Copperworks team emptied a barrel of Copperworks New Oak Cask Finished Gin and gave that gin-soaked barrel to the brewers at Elliott Bay Brewing,” said a press release from Copperworks Distilling. “They filled it with beer to create a barrel-aged version of their Demolition IPA. They then sent the barrel back to Copperworks who filled the barrel with gin and let it rest for almost a year.”

Copperworks IPA Cask Finished Gin is a limited edition gin that offers notes of lemon balm, citrus hard candy, eucalyptus, peppermint and, not surprisingly, finishes with bitter hop notes.

“With our background as brewers, collaborating with Elliott Bay Brewing, one of our long-time friends in the brewing industry, was a natural partnership,” said Jason Parker, Copperworks Co-Founder/President. “The botanicals in our malt-based gin provided flavors in the barrel that enhanced their organic malt-based Demolition IPA, which in turn flavored the barrel with great citrus and spice notes for the second gin we aged in it.”
