Countdown to the Apocalypse Continues at Elysian Brewing

Way back in December we told you about Elysian Brewing Company’s plans to prepare for the end of the world (read it). According to the Mayan calendar, civilization will come to a screeching halt on December 21st, 2012. To commemorate the profundity of the situation, Elysian decided to brew a series of very special beers: the 12 Beer of the Apocalypse. In January, Elysian began releasing the beers. A new beer is introduced on the 21st of each month. For March, the release party takes place this Wednesday at Elysian Fields (details below).

If the world really were coming to an end, what would you brew? So far, Elysian has released Nibiru Yerba Mate Tripel (January) and Rapture Heather Ale (February). For March the brewery is releasing Fallout Green Cardamom Pale Ale. In addition to creating some highly creative beers, Elysian teamed up with artist Charles Burns and Fantagraphic Books (ultra-hip comic book people) to create some memorable label art.

Since the world is supposed to end on December 21st, Elysian decided to hold the final Apocalypse part on December 20th. You know, just in case. Otherwise, the parties are on the 21st of each month at one of Elysian’s locations. This Wednesday at Elysian Fields, for instance.

The monthly apocalypse parties at Elysian have already gained a reputation for being wacky and a bit hedonistic. Dress up in your best apocalyptic outfit. Think gas masks and EPA haz-mat suits. Be creative and weird. What would you do if the world really was coming to an end? We’ve heard rumors that we dare not repeat. This month’s party takes place on Wednesday, March 21st at Elysian Fields. You never know what Elysian has up their sleeve.
