Back in January we told you about Diamond Knot Brewing’s temporary closure of its pub in Mukilteo (read it). The pub was long overdue for some remodeling and expansion. Today we are sharing the news that the pub will reopen next Saturday, April 6. Along with officials from the City of Mukilteo, Diamond Knot will christen the new pub at 1:00 p.m. The ceremony will include the breaking of a growler full of IPA.
The old pub was nostalgic, cozy and familiar. As much as I loved the place, using those words to describe a pub makes it sound a bit too much like my grandma’s house. Anyway, a bigger kitchen, a revamped menu, and a brand new draft system are just a few of the changes you you’ll notice. I hope the urinals, which were artfully crafted out of Anheuser-Busch kegs, have not changed. We’ll see. Here is the press release from Diamond Knot Brewing:

sponsorMUKILTEO, WA – It’s been all hands on deck in preparation for the grand re-opening of Diamond Knot Craft Brewing’s flagship location on the Mukilteo Waterfront.
The Diamond Knot Brewery & Alehouse will celebrate this long awaited moment Saturday, April 6 at 1 p.m. when the company and the City of Mukilteo officially “christen” the site, complete with the breaking of a ceremonial growler filled with the company’s India Pale Ale.

sponsorThe Brewery & Alehouse closed January 7 to proceed with the massive expansion to more than double the kitchen and open the west side of the building for family-friendly dining, as well as coffee and ice-cream service. During the last several months, Diamond Knot has almost doubled the size of the Brewery & Alehouse to 5,400 square feet, 300 of which still houses the original Diamond Knot brewery.

The original Cheers Too pub side of the Brewery & Alehouse was minimally impacted by the expansion, but regulars will notice the bar was changed significantly to accommodate the larger kitchen space. The bar, which was originally Formica, is now a 70+-year-old slab of douglas fir, reclaimed from the historic Port of Stockton banana warehouse. The company purchased the entire 33-foot-long timber and the remaining wood was used as tabletops, benches and throughout the coffee and ice cream area.
Newer features include the new cedar-wrapped center island that forms the kitchen and back bar, the installation of historic Mukilteo signage and a floor-to-almost-ceiling garage door that will open to outdoor seating in the summer.
“Design was kept simple,” said Sherry Jennings, director of communications. We wanted to celebrate the past uses of the building and keep it more of an industrial feel. This is definitely a comfortable place, and now with family-friendly dining, families can enjoy Diamond Knot together at our signature location.”
A new tap system will deliver beer through black metal pipes to 14 tap handles, that will not only include Diamond Knot craft beer, but will also dispense Washington hard cider, house brewed root beer and a rotating guest Washington beer. Hard alcohol will be added to the bar choices once the state adjusts the current liquor permit.
The restaurant’s food menu has changed to include burgers and additional pizza and entrees. Stonegrill items that provide an interactive dining experience will still be offered. One major change is the addition of breakfast at the waterfront location.
Diamond Knot Craft Brewing also operates the Pizza House, located at 403 Lincoln Ave. in Mukilteo, Camano Lodge on Camano Island and the Taproom, located at the company’s production brewery and headquarters on Chennault Beach Road in Mukilteo. Diamond Knot Craft Brewing has been in operation since 1994.
Hours for the expanded Brewery & Alehouse will be 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on the family-friendly side, and 8 a.m. to close on the existing 21-and-over pub side.
