Everett’s First Belgian-Style Brewery. Meet Justice Brewing

One of my favorite things to do here on the Washington Beer Blog is introduce new breweries. Today I am introducing you to Justice Brewing, which describes itself as Everett’s first Belgian-style brewery.

Nate McLaughlin is the man behind the curtain at Justice Brewing. A decorated homebrewer, his flagship beer –White and Nerdy Wit— recently won Best in Show at the 2012 Evergreen State Fair. Nate describes White and Nerdy as a Belgian White with an American twist. It is brewed using Pilsner malt, wheat, sweet orange peel, Citra hops and traditional Belgian yeast. To add a Northwest twist, it is hoppier than traditional Belgian-style Wit beer.

Justice Brewing is based out of the detached garage at Nate’s home where he brews on a 1-barrel system. It has taken three years for the plan to come to life but the beer is now flowing. Currently, Justice Brewing’s White and Nerdy is on tap at 192 Brewing’s Lake Trail Tap Room in Kenmore. It will also be on tap this weekend at the Brickyard Brewing grand opening celebration. Justice Brewing will also pour at next weekend’s Snohomish Brewfest (blog sponsor).

Nate plans to offer growler fills at the brewery but has not determined exactly when. Labels for 22-ounce bottles are currently pending approval.
