False Start Session IPA – A Beer for the 12th Man

Seahawks training camp officially starts today, which means our thoughts will soon be turning to another amazing season of screaming and hollering like crazed lunatics. The 12th Man needs something to soothe the vocal chords, so Redhook says, “You bring the noise and we’ll bring the beer.”

Redhook Brewery recently announced the pending release of False Start Session IPA, a beer designed with the 12th Man in mind. The tap handle is an air horn, an homage to the noise that gives the Seahawks an audible advantage at home games. The beer was developed with former Seahawks defensive end Joe Tafoya and is slated for release on July 28th. False Start Session IPA weighs in at 4.0 ABV and 50 IBUs. This beer is available in draft form and only here in Washington.

“We’re so pumped to work with Joe Tafoya to create a beer especially for Seattle fans,” said Liana Duvall, Redhook Brewery marketing manager. “We wanted to give fans something they can enjoy throughout game day and we hope diehard Seattle fans will really embrace this new Redhook addition—it’s really all about them.”

False Start Session IPA was created with assistance from former Seahawks defensive end Joe Tafoya, who is also the mastermind behind two record-breaking cheers by Seahawks fans at CenturyLink Field as recorded by officials from Guinness World Records.

“With deep roots in Seattle and a long history of brewing the very best craft beers, Redhook Brewery is the perfect partner to launch a beer for Seattle sports fans. The best fans deserve the best beer,” said Tafoya.

Redhook created this dry-hopped, crushable IPA with a bold aroma and, at only 4.0 percent ABV, it finishes crisp and refreshing. The False Start tap handle features an air horn, a shout out to sports fans who bring the noise.

False Start Session IPA will be available on draught in Washington only. ABV 4.0 percent, IBU 50.

About Redhook

Redhook was born out of the energy and spirit of the early 80s in the heart of Seattle. While the term didn’t exist at the time, Redhook became one of America’s first “craft” breweries. From a modest start in a former transmission shop in the Seattle neighborhood of Ballard, to the current breweries in Woodinville, Wash., and Portsmouth, NH, Redhook has become one of America’s most recognized craft breweries. While Redhook has “grown up” over the past 30 years, one thing has never changed—Redhook is still brewing great beers like ESB, Long Hammer IPA and Audible Ale. Most importantly, Redhook has fun doing it. Redhook beers are available on draught and in bottles around the country. For more information, visit www.redhook.com.

  1. I have some reserved optimism for this beer. Haven’t been to enamored with Dick’s or Hilliard’s “12th man” beers.
