First Sip of Fresh Hop 2013 – This Afternoon at Latona Pub

Let me share a bit of wisdom. A brewer friend of mine once told me, “I don’t care who’s got the first fresh hop beer of the season; I want to know who has the last fresh hop beer of the season.” That said, I’m excited for some freshy-fresh. Sometimes information makes its way across my desk that I don’t want to share with the public. I make sure my room is booked, my spot reserved, before I tell the world. This is one of those moments when, on one hand, I want to keep this information a secret. On the other hand, I want to make sure you know. Seems only fair.

For Seattle beer folks, today is your first opportunity to drink a fresh hop beer in 2013. At 6:00 p.m. the Latona Pub (blog sponsor) will tap a special cask of this year’s Fresh Hop IPA from Two Beers Brewing (blog sponsor). This one cask is sure to go quickly so maybe your better option is to plan on the official Fresh Hop 2013 release at the Two Beers Brewery tasting room on Friday, which I reported about yesterday. But if you just cannot wait one more day, I don’t blame you.
