Follow-up – Porterhouse Brewfest

This past Saturday I arrived in Mount Vernon shortly after the gates had opened for the 7th Annual Porterhouse Brewfest. The event is a fundraiser for Mount Vernon’s historic Lincoln Theater. There were a dozen breweries pouring about 20 beers. Great beer, great music, and all to support a great cause.
For this festival, they shut down a block of Gates Street in the middle of old town Mount Vernon, just outside of the Porterhouse Pub’s doors. When I arrived, the crowd was just forming. Elise, one of the owners of the Porterhouse, assured me that by 4:00 the street and the pub would be packed. She was right.
There were three outstanding blues acts on the bill: the Chris Eger Band, Alice Stewart and the Formerllys, and Lady A and the Baby Blues Funk Band. The video below shows clips from the festival, including some great blues by Chris Eger and Alice Stewart. I overheard someone say that Chris Eger is only 20 years old. The second half of the video features Alice Stewart doing a haunting rendition of Statesboro Blues. Good stuff.

  1. Beer and Blues! No better combination. Unless you can add the Piper’s Creek Smoke off to it. Wouldn’t miss the smoke off for anything, but, your video makes me wish I was in Mt. Vernon too. Awesome stuff
