Fremont Brewing signs on with Columbia Distributing

Columbia Distributing announced today that it will assume the distribution of Fremont Brewing beers throughout Washington State. Previously, Odom Corporation handled Fremont’s distribution. This news is probably only of immediate interest to bar owners, beer retailers, and other breweries. In that regard, this is notable news.

Here is the press release from Columbia Distributing:

Fremont Brewing Partners with Columbia Distributing in Washington

Seattle, Washington (July 6, 2015) – Columbia Distributing will assume the distribution of Fremont Brewing’s beer throughout the majority of the state of Washington. Founded in 2009 by Matt Lincecum, the Seattle based brewery and taproom has quickly become one of the most popular and fastest growing breweries in the state with its small-batch artisan beers.

  1. What’s the source for Interurban being the best selling craft beer in the state?

  2. It’s not. Interurban does not sell more than Mannys or African Amber or countless others. Not sure why they would put such an extravagant untruth in their press release.

  3. Wow, another punch in the gut to the sweat equity Odom put into building the brand, too bad! Has anyone seen the beer catalog of Columbia? Talk of lost in the shuffle, ask one of their reps to tell you of all the breweries they have and sku’s!

  4. Hey, guys. If you’re in the industry, it’s only fair to out yourself rather than use Kendall’s forum to advance some message….

So, Interurban IPA 6-packs are the best selling craft beer statewide in all grocery as reported by IRI, the company that compiles all scan data from off-premise sales.

  5. being a former Odom sales employee who sold in one of the largest fremont sales routes, and friends with the current sales force, it is a gut check, but in the logistics of distribution and expansion Odom is a small piece in the mix, Columbia can distribute and push Fremont beer in Oregon and Washington with more logistical reasoning… While I will say if i was still at Odom Id be upset, I will say this Matt you do you! the quality and consistency you and your brewers put out demands statewide dominance… not gonna stop me from enjoying any of the delicious Session Ale that just came out… or enjoying the beer garden for a good lunch time beverage.
