Ghostfish Brewing Ready to Celebrate a Successful First Year

It was just about a year ago that Ghostfish Brewing opened its doors and started pouring the very first Seattle-made gluten-free beers. Their goal was to create innovative craft beers using ancient grains like millet and buckwheat. Mission accomplished: less than a year after opening, Ghostfish won two medals at the Great American Beer Festival for its gluten-free beers. Impressive, to say the least. See our post about Ghostfish Brewing’s opening last year.

To celebrate the first year, Ghostfish Brewing has a lot planned, including a party at the brewery on Saturday, February 6th. Also, Ghostfish is releasing a limited edition First Anniversary Russian Imperial Stout. More details in the press release below.

Leading up to this event, the brewery has been sharing memories and milestones from the past year through their social media channels, reminiscing about the hectic but exciting days prior to opening the brewery. Ghostfish Brewing is also orchestrating an interactive scavenger hunt that involves eleven retailers of Ghostfish beers and rewards the most active players with Ghostfish swag.

“Getting to this point involved a lot of blood, sweat & tears, and our dedicated fans have been with us since day one. This is a chance to celebrate with them and say thank you in a big way!” said Randy Schroeder, co-owner.

In honor of this momentous event, Ghostfish Brewing will be releasing a limited quantity of their 1st Anniversary Russian Imperial Stout in 22 oz. bottles. This beer will be available for sale in the brewery taproom and a limited number of bottle shops throughout Western Washington. The 1st Anniversary Russian Imperial Stout is brewed with malted and roasted millet, roasted buckwheat, purple corn, cane sugar, and hopped with Chinook and Willamette hops. It has a heavy body and immense depth of flavor, with real chocolate and mocha flavors and some dark fruit notes reminiscent of red wine.

“This is a real sipping beer. A big beer with big flavors and is not to be taken lightly”, said Brewmaster Jason Yerger.
