Happening Tonight – "Iron Brewer" at the Bev

Tonight at the Beveridge Place Pub… Two brewers, one ingredient, and only one rule. You be the judge at the first-ever Beveridge Place Iron Brewer competition.  The fun gets started at 7:00.
Television’s Iron Chef matches two world-class chefs against each other in a battle royal of cooking skills. Using the theme ingredient, the two chef prepare a series of dishes for a panel of expert judges. The winner is crowned the Iron Chef; the loser humbly backs away in disgrace. That’s all great, but it has nothing to do with beer. Well, the folks at the Beveridge Place Pub decided to take the same basic format and turn it into a battle of two skilled brewers.
Tonight will feature a face-off between brewer Pat Ringe (Diamond Knot Brewing) and brewer Matt McClung (Schooner Exact Brewing). The theme ingredient for this battle is orange. The only other stipulation is that the beer cannot be a Witbier. The crowd will vote for the beer that they prefer and the winner will be crowned the Iron Brewer.

  1. Hmm, I don’t get it… with Iron Chef you can judge the results at the end because it only takes 60 minutes or so to cook a meal. But beer takes about 2 weeks to ferment. So how do you judge it at the end? Does the Iron Brewer competition work by having them brew it in advance and then the crowd is just doing the judging? Cool idea anyway, just wondering how it is run…

  3. Patrick, thats exactly it. We were notified that we were the chosen breweries, and of the secret ingredient a few weeks ago. Now the beers are done and it is up to the public to judge.
