Headless Mumby Brewing celebrates first anniversary this Saturday

Headless Mumby Brewing came to life on a year ago with an uncommon vision. In a world replete with IPAs and other ales, this brewery intended to focus exclusively on lager-style beers. This Saturday, November 16th, at the brewery and taproom in Olympia, you are invited to join Headless Mumby for a one-year anniversary celebration.

To mark the occassion, the brewery created a SMASH lager (Single Malt and Single Hop) using 100 percent Munich malt and one single hop variety, Amarillo hops from Crosby Hop Farm.

Here’s more information about Saturday’s event, straight from the brewery:

This Saturday, November 16th from 11:00 am – 9:00 pm, Headless Mumby Brewing Company will be turning 1 year old! Just one short year ago owners Keith Ciani and Alex Maffeo opened the doors to the only independent brewery in Washington that focuses only on lager-style beers. Located in Olympia, WA the original home of Olympia Brewery who’s classic slogan “it’s in the water” put Olympia on the map as a destination for exceptional brewing.

To celebrate the anniversary HMBC brewed a S.M.A.S.H lager using 100% Munich malt and 100% Amarillo hops from Crosby Hop Farms. “This Beer is definitely one of my favorites.” says head brewer and co-owner Keith Ciani. “The Munich malt gives it a great biscuity flavor and it’s balanced out with the grapefruit and floral aroma of the Amarillo hops. Very drinkable.”

The brewery will be pulling out all the stops on Saturday and serving the S.M.A.S.H on tap and in a firkin on the counter and it will be served on the nitro tap as well. They will also be tapping the first keg of the first-ever batch brewed at Headless Mumby over one year ago.

For the last year, Headless Mumby has been building relationships within the community and they have invited Don Juan’s Mexican Kitchen of Tenino to set up a pop up at the brewery for the anniversary party. Patrons will be able to purchase vouchers for tacos or chips and dip at the bar. And as always Headless Mumby is a family affair and we welcome guests of all ages! (No pets please) This last year has been better than the crew at HMBC could have hoped for.

“It’s been an amazing experience to go from a concept to reality with our vision,” says co-owner Alex Maffeo. “We were excited to have that vision honored this summer when we were awarded as WA State’s Very Small Brewery of the Year at the 2019 Washington ever Awards. We’ve built a team that shares our goals for the future and we look forward to the next year and beyond.”

The whole group would like to say thank you to all those who have supported us in various ways this last year. Cheers to many more years!
