Hellbent Brewing celebrates Steven’s birthday with a beer and a party

Hellbent Brewing, Steven the dog.

He doesn’t walk so much as he strolls, wandering through the taproom unimpressed by his own celebrity. Listening as people he does not know refer to him by name, he may or may not acknowledge their presence. It’s nothing personal; Steven has a reputation to maintain and he’s way too cool to admit he enjoys the attention.

If you’ve ever visited Hellbent Brewing Company in Seattle, there’s a strong chance that you have encountered Steven, the affable yellow labrador who wanders the brewery like he owns the place.

To commemorate Steven’s 10th birthday, his person brewed up a special IPA in his honor: Steven’s Summer IPA, a lighter-style IPA with a refreshing floral and fruity hop character.

Simcoe, Ekuanot, El Dorado, and Cascade hops add to the aroma. Pale malt, dextrin malt, and a touch of wheat make up the body. Clocks in at 5.5 percent ABV and 25 IBU. The beer will be released at the brewery on Friday, July 31st.

On Sunday, August 16th Steven celebrates his 10th birthday. Situations being what they are, you can reserve your spot in Steven’s VIP beer garden in advance. No doubt, there are a lot of Steven fans out there who long to be part of his milestone birthday celebration, so reserving your spot guarantees you’ll get one of the limited number of seats.

Your reservation will cost you $20, which secures your seat in the VIP beer garden, a package of DogSquad Donuts from The Seattle Barkery, a Steven sticker, a limited-edition wooden coaster, and a 4-pack of Steven’s India Pale Ale. It’s an outdoor event, rain or shine.  All of the usual masking and physical distancing policies will be enforced. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed at the event. Your reservation in the VIP beer garden is good for an hour, so if you want to stick around longer you’ll need to talk to the bartender about securing a table.

Humans must be 21 years of age or older, dogs of any age welcome!

You can find out more, stay informed, and also learn about the pre-release dog party on the Hellbent Brewing Facebook page.
