Hi-Fi Brewing Opens Today in Redmond

The long awaited opening of Redmond’s Hi-Fi Brewing is now upon us. Today (Thursday, Aug 15) at 4:00 p.m. the doors will swing open for the first time. We were there last night for a sneak peek and a bit of beer. We have some pictures for you below.

The taproom is bright and contemporary, with architectural touches that nod to the theme: high fidelity. While I use the term contemporary, there is also a retro vibe reminiscent of the days when every middle class family in America had a hi-fi console in the living room that was the size of a Toyota Prius. Maybe it’s the giant old-school stereo speakers, the mid century modern chandelier, and the use of teal blue (pretty sure my Uncle Bob had a ’68 Buick that color), but there is something nostalgic about this very modern space. The pictures describe it better than my words, but trust me when I say that this taproom is slick in a comfortable sort of way.

Let’s talk beer. High Fidelity is a theme that continues into the brewhouse. All of the beers I tasted where very good, which really is not surprising. After all, they landed a topnotch brewer in Mike Davis (formerly of Harmon Brewing). I was particularly fond of the British Pale Ale and the Porter. The British Pale Ale could be confused for an ESB (I mean that in the best possible way.) The porter is rich and lightly smokey, as any good Northwest-style porter should be. I’m sure everyone wants to know about the IPA, right? The IPA has an assertive hop quality that continually amuses the taste buds, from the first sip to the last linger. Not quite as hop-forward as many IPAs these days, but better balanced than most.

The location is familiar to eastside beer lovers; Hi-Fi Brewing is located about a block away from Black Raven Brewing. It’s on the same street, about a block and a half farther down and across the street.
