Gig Harbor Brewing knows how to celebrate the Fourth of July. All you need is beer, hot dogs and hot cars. Turns out the brewery’s owner, John Fosberg, is something of a car fanatic. Muscle cars, to be more precise.
On Saturday, July 2nd Gig Harbor Brewing hosts Hot Dogs, Hot Cars, and Cold Beer, a celebration of American independence. Every red-blooded American loves beer and hot dogs, and nothing says, “I’m free!” quite like a big block V-8 with headers, a four-barrel carburetor, and a disturbingly aggressive camshaft.
“Growing up, my dad was always working on his newest hot rod on the weekends,” says Fosberg. “And when July 4th came around, we’d all get together with other “car families” to rev engines, eat, and have a good time.”
“There was no craft beer back then, but the combination of July 4th, cars, dogs, and Oly beer, still brings back a lot of fond memories for me, and that’s what we’re trying to do with our event.”

One of the South Sound’s favorite food trucks, Hometown Dogs, will be on hand at the brewery July 2nd, serving up a wide variety of their very-popular “City Dogs” — Chicago, Atlanta, Seattle, etc. — as well as a kids’ dog and sweet treats.
You’ll also be able to stare at a large group of classic cars parked around the brewery, courtesy of a local car club.
And, of course, there will be cold craft beer in the brewery’s taproom — along with free boxed juices and balloons for the kids, shuffleboard, and two large flat-screen TVs.
Gig Harbor Brewing is encouraging everyone to bring the family, enjoy a hot dog (or two), see some muscle cars, sip a cold one, and start the long weekend off right.
