Humpday Happenings – a lot going on tonight

There’s a lot going on for a Wednesday. Here’s a taste.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 13TH

Washington Beer Fest at Brouwer’s Cafe – Starting today, Brouwer’s will turn over all 60-plus taps to the beers of Washington. They will also focus on locally produced foods as well. For a complete list of the beers they’ll be pouring (and it is impressive) visit their website.

Fresh Hop Ales Tasting at 99 Bottles – Wednesday is always a good day to go tasting at 99 Bottles in Federal Way. Tonight from 4:00 – 8:00 you can try two incredibly aromatic fresh hop beers for $1.00. They’ll be pouring Deschutes Hop Trip and BridgePort Hop Harvest.

Epic Ales and Cheese Tasting at Full Throttle BottlesEpic Ales will be serving up samples of their unique beers paired with a selection of gourmet cheeses. Cody Morris, the mastermind behind Epic Ales’ uncommon beer flavors, seems to be exciting the foodies as much as us beer lovers these days. Understandable, given his experience working at Whole Foods in their specialty foods department. The tasting runs from 5:00- 7:00 and cost $3.00. As with all tasting events at Full Throttle Bottles, bring your own glass and save a buck.

Anderson Valley and Fal Allen at The Dog and Pony – The Dog and Pony Alehouse will host a brewers night celebration tonight featuring the beers of Anderson Valley Brewing. It’s a long story, but Fal Allen recently returned to California’s Anderson Valley Brewing to work as Head Brewer after some time brewing overseas. More than that, he is considered a legend in the Seattle brewing scene, having established a reputation here in the Seattle area many years ago. (Catch him tomorrow night at the Beveridge Place Pub if you can’t make it to the Dog and Pony tonight.)

Brewermasters Dinner at Ray’s Cafe – I don’t want to rub it in because these events usually sell out the day they’re announced, so I won’t go into detail. I’ll just say that these dinners are amazing. Executive Chef Peter Birk hand-selects five beers, each from one of Washington’s newer breweries, and creates a five course meal, pairing each beer with a course. We’ll tell you more about it (including how you can get reservations at future events) in the coming days.
