Lake Tapps Brewing now open in Sumner

Very quietly, while we were all enjoying one of the loveliest Washington summers on record, a new brewery opened in Sumner, Washington. In late August, Lake Tapps Brewing Company began pouring beer at its taproom. Today we’d like to officially welcome them to the Washington beer scene and also to the family of blog sponsors.

The Lake Tapps Brewing taproom is open Thursday through Saturday. Also, they open an hour before all Seahawks games. So I guess you could say they’re open Thursday through Seahawks Sundays. They don’t offer food, but you’re welcome to bring it with you. The brewery and taproom are located next to a local landmark, the Old Cannery furniture store, just off Highway 167 in Sumner.

Craig Martinson, Glenn Adams, Lee Martin and Vance Hanbridge hatched the idea some time ago and have now given Sumner something it needed: a brewery to call its own. For now, it is a small operation designed to keep beer flowing at the taproom, but they made sure to secure a location with room for expansion.

Lake_tapps_signWhereas many new breweries are content to open with just two or three beers on tap, Lake Tapps Brewing hit the ground running with a whopping 12 beers pouring. Along with expected offerings like Amber, IPA, Pale Ale, and Blonde, the brewery opened with a number of specialty beers. Meaning, these folks are creative brewers with an interest in making uncommon beers. The opening day lineup included the likes of a Coconut Porter and a Banana Peach Ale.
