Travis, I'm sorry. I suppose I should have done a better job of pointing out the difference. The Great American Beer Festival is held every September in Denver, CO. It is the largest beer festival in North America. The results that you mention are from the 2009 Great American Beer Festival.

The Great International Beer Festival is held every year in Providence, RI. The Great American Beer Festival results were announced on September 26th. The results from the Great International Beer Festival's Great International Beer Competition have not yet been officially announced. Incomplete though it may be, the source of my information was an old friend who, suffice it to say, works at a brewery in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

As soon as the complete and official information arrives, I'll share any additional details. I'm sorry for the confusion. GIBF, not GABF.

ah sorry to do this but I would like to point out a few things here:

First, some help with Red Hook being a WA brewer. Look at a pic of their stand at the competition, http://blog.redhook.com/?p=214. It displays the Seattle Space Needle. So it's good to know that with Red Hook, home is where the heart is.

If you look further into the list you have incorrectly named the winning beers:
    * Gold: Extra Strong Bitter Ale category – Redhook ESB
    * Silver: Barley Wine Style Ale category – Redhook Treblehook
    * Bronze: South German Style Hefeweizen category - Redhook Weizen

But back to the good news (completing your update sandwich) 2 of the winning ales (ESB and Treblehook) are listed from the WA brewery.
