A lot happening around Seattle (and Spokane) this weekend

Happening this weekend:

Spokane Oktoberfest. Friday through Sunday at Riverfront Park in Spokane. A three-day Oktoberfest celebration on the river in Spokane, featuring tons of great Washington beer, German-style food and authentic Bavarian music. At long last Spokane has an official Washington beer festival of its own! Read our previous stories for details, including a special deal on a hotel room, or visit the official website.

Poverty Bay Blues and Brews Festival – Des Moines, WA. Saturday 12:00 – 6:00. Waterfront location on Puget Sound, great beer poured by a dozen different breweries, great music and great food. Organized by the Des Moines Rotary Club. Proceeds benefit Music 4 Life — a program that helps elementary school kids get involved in music programs.  See our previous stories for details or visit the official website.

Hops and Crops – Auburn, WA. Saturday, 1:00 – 5:00. Festival at the Mary Olson Farm (White River Valley Museum), a gorgeous 60-acre historic farm site along the Green River. Between six and ten breweries, a music stage, food vendors, craft vendors, kids’ activities, games and more. More information about this festival, including the list of breweries that will be pouring, visit the website.

Emerald City Beer Company Grand Opening – Seattle, WA. Saturday 2:00 – 8:00. At last they’re making beer in the old Rainier Brewery again. Emerald City Beer invites you to come help them celebrate. Beer, food, music and pinup girls. Can’t beat that! Read our previous post about this event or visit Emerald City Beer on Facebook.

Fremont Oktoberfest – Seattle, WA. Friday through Sunday. If all the events above sound too tame for you, fear not. The annual Fremont Oktoberfest happens this weekend as well. This is the only beer festival I’ve ever heard of that has its own iPhone app. Go to Fremont expecting large crowds consuming lots and lots of beer and you will not be disappointed. Visit the official website for details.
