Mailbox Peaks is no longer just a popular hike, now it’s a beer

Yesterday, May 1st, Snoqualmie Falls Brewery released Mailbox Peak Hazy IPA. Below we share the press release about the beer. The name is an homage to the popular hike up to Mailbox Peak. The trailhead is about 20 minutes from the brewery.

The beer is available in 22-ounce bottles, so you could conceivably carry one up the trail with you for that precious picture, but only if you’re willing to carry the empty out with you. Otherwise, please don’t bother. Sure, the beer would be easier to tote up the trail in 12-ounce cans, but nothing about Mailbox Peak is easy.

For the unaware, the Mailbox Peak trail is a rather grueling 9.5-mile roundtrip hike up to a peak in the Cascades. At the top, an oddly placed mailbox sits atop a post in the rocks. It is a very popular hike these days.

Old timers like me now refer to it as Instagram Peak (you kids get off of my lawn!) because we know that Mailbox Peak has always been there, but wasn’t ever really deemed too horribly special until the advent of Instagram. An expansive view and an oddly placed mailbox is the kind stuff Instagrammers love, but that’s only part of the story. Gather round the campfire and I’ll tell you about the old, dilapidated trail up to Mailbox Peak. Harrowing stuff. Now, the trail has been vastly improved to make it safer and easier. It is still an average of 850 feet of elevation gain per mile. Safe? Sure. Easy? No.

And now, the beer.

Snoqualmie, Washington- Snoqualmie Falls Brewery is excited to announce the release of the Mailbox Peak Hazy IPA on May 1st, 2019!

Inspired by the local hike, this New England-Style IPA is as ambitious as it is approachable. Low in IBUs, it opens with a burst of tangerine, guava, and pineapple that delivers a welcoming introduction to any tentative IPA-drinker. The savory notes of caramel and walnut melt to compliment the tropical aroma fused between our Citra and Mosaic Hops. This dynamic flavor is curated by the Victory Malt to relax the typical IPA bite. Mailbox provides an animated IPA that is as big in flavor as it is in refreshment.

However, this beer-of-paradise hasn’t forgotten its roots. Despite only 40 IBUs, the Mailbox contains more hops than any other of our beers. The cascading hop profile delivers a full-bodied, satisfying ale. Whether it’s enjoyed at the conclusion that arduous hike, or just an average day, the Mailbox Peak Hazy IPA is waiting at the top.

Enjoy it on draft from May through August, or take it home in 22oz. bottles.

ABV: 6.3%
IBU: 40

Snoqualmie Falls Brewery began operation in 1997,  opened the Taproom in April 2006, and our Beer Garden in July 2018.  For more information please contact David Eiffert, 425-831-2337.

Mailbox Peak Hazy IPA is the final piece to the enduring quest for the perfect adventure.…is the perfect way to celebrate and complete that epic adventure you’ve just undertaken. Mailbox Peak Hazy IPA is waiting at the finish line.
