Naked City Brewing announces 9th anniversary celebration – Oct. 14

I suppose you could say we share a birthday. In October 2008, this blog posted a story about the grand opening of Naked City Brewery and Taphouse. Today we share news of the Naked City 9th anniversary celebration.

That post was one of the very first posts on the Washington Beer Blog. Actually, that post is number 12 out of 4,196 posts we’ve done over the course of the last nine years. I can only imagine how many pints they’ve poured at Naked City since that day in October of 2008.

Sometimes 2008 doesn’t seem like it was so long ago. But, alas, it was. George W. Bush was the President of the United State. Comparatively, it was an innocent time.  Although the realities of the global economic crisis were sinking in, we had hope. Remember hope? It was a simple time. Google was still just a noun and had not yet achieved verb status. Smart phones were new and iPhones were very new. Most people had not yet heard of Twitter. There were only 1,500 breweries in America (now 5,300+). There were only about 100 breweries in Washington (now 350+) and the newest one was Naked City.

On Saturday, October 14, Naked City will unlock its doors for an open-to-close celebration of nine magical years serving the great people of Greenwood, greater Seattle, and beyond.

Head Brewer Don Webb is bringing out all the best beers tucked in the corners for a special occasion, including the 2012 Old Proper Whiskey Barrel Aged Barley Wine, and the 2015 Headless Centaur Rum Barrel Aged Pumpkin Ale. Don also brewed a fresh batch of the award-winning Big Lebrewski, a white Russian imperial stout fermented on Kahlua-soaked oak staves.

Arrive early for the first installment of Second Saturday Cinema, a free, all ages matinee screening of a 2016 animated movie we can only legally announce at drink.nakedcity.beer. Seating will be first-come-first served, with doors open at 11:30am, and the movie starting at noon. Bring the whole family for some laughs, lunch, and delicious beers and root beers. Second Saturday Cinema will take place on the second Saturday of every month, featuring a free all ages screening of a great family-friendly film.

The party continues at 6pm with a free bluegrass concert with 3 Play Ricochet. Stomp your feet as you sip on a rare Naked City beer.
