Naked City Brewing invites you to Do the Décima on September 22nd, 27th

In October of 2008, Naked City Brewing opened in Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood. We should know, we were there. In fact, this blog and that brewery share the same anniversary (basically). Our story about Naked City’s opening was one of our very first posts. To celebrate ten years, Naked City Brewing decided to brew ten beers. See our story about the ongoing anniversary celebration.

Here is the story of the ninth beer in the Décima series.

The year 2018 brings a special milestone – the 10th anniversary of Naked City Brewing. With hearts full of gratitude, the Naked City crew is celebrating ten years with ten months of collaboration beers, food pairings, charity concerts, and the Décima, a craft beer odyssey.

In partnership with many beloved brewers, including 21st Amendment, Pike, Silver City, and Flying Bike, Naked City will release one official beer each month from January to October—and a handful of surprise beers to be announced along the way.

For the 9th beer in our 10-for-10 collaboration series, we partnered with Silver City Brewery. Brewmaster Don “Big Daddy” Spencer and crew have been brewing award winning ales and lagers first in Silverdale, and now at their production brewery in Bremerton, for more than 20 years. For this collaboration, we decided to bring back Rauch City, a rich, smoky Rauch Bock brewed with Weyermann Beechwood Smoked and Pilsner malts, and hopped with Sterling and Hersbrucker hops.

Rauch City was conceived after Don Spencer, Don & Janet Webb, along with members of the Silver City Crew, family, and friends traveled to Germany together for Oktoberfest in Munich. The trip included a 4-day layover in Bamberg where we sampled the local Rauch beers unique to the city. Upon our return, we decided to brew our own version of this unique lager. We first collaborated with Silver City on this beer in 2015, when it won a gold medal at the Washington Beer Awards.

And so continues a beer odyssey known as the Décima, a poem in ten beers. Beer lovers can pick up a Décima punch card at either pub anytime. Beers will be released monthly until the big 10th Anniversary Parties at both pubs in October, when completed Décima punch cards can be turned in for a complementary 10th Anniversary Décima pint glass.
