Name that Beer – Elysian/Triple Door Pale Ale contest

Back on August 29th I told you about a beer that Elysian Brewing was creating for, and with, The Triple Door. I was actually there when they brewed it (read about it). Today I want to give you a heads-up about a contest that The Triple Door is running. They are asking people to suggest names for the new brew.

To enter the contest, go to The Triple Door’s Facebook Page, then go to the photo album featuring pictures of the beer being brewed at Elysian. Leave a comment that includes your suggested name. I’m going to suggest Gothic Rocker Pale Ale. They will pick the most creative name and the winner gets a growler. There is absolutely no guarantee that they’ll use the name, but the winner gets bragging rights and some free beer.

I am at the brewery sampling the beer right now, as this post is published. Not quite ready, but coming along nicely.

Here’s the press release:

SEATTLE (September 7, 2011) – The Triple Door, Seattle’s world-class event venue that pairs live entertainment with award-winning food and wine, announces a partnership with Elysian Brewing  Company to create a new craft beer. The yet-to-be-named pale ale will be available exclusively at The Triple Door and at Elysian Fields, stadium district brewpub, beginning in early October 2011.

A contest for the most creative name for the beer is currently underway on The Triple Door Facebook page. To enter, contestants should visit the site: www.facebook.com/TheTripleDoor and post a name suggestion. Contest winners will not receive naming rights, but the person judged to come up with the most creative name wins a growler, a half-gallon glass jug, of the new ale.

In creating the recipe for this new brew, a team of key members from both The Triple Door and Elysian Brewing Company collaborated to create a recipe that pairs with The Triple Door menu, which features the award-winning and fiercely authentic Pan-Asian dishes of Wild Ginger.

“When we initially developed the concept of a private label craft beer with the team from The Elysian Brewing Company, we were very excited about the prospect of creating our very own craft beer recipe that could perfectly suit the flavors found in our cuisine,” said Jason Lock, general manager of The Triple Door. “We take great pride in crafting our cocktail, wine and beer offerings to provide our guests a variety of options that pair well with our menu – this provides the ultimate opportunity to deliver on this goal.”

Described as a refreshing golden pale ale, this beer will stay true to Northwest craft brewing by incorporating a lively hop profile. Unique flavoring and aromatic elements will be created by an uncommon Japanese hop, Sorachi Ace, that provides citrus and tropical notes, and for an additional twist, the use of juniper provides another intriguing flavor and aromatic layer. When available in early October, it will retail for $5.50 a pint plus tax.
