We started hearing rumors some time ago but didn’t want to say anything until we knew that everything was cool. We were in Port Townsend a couple weeks ago and got confirmation, but decided we’d wait until they had a chance to make the announcement themselves. Today we received an email from Water Street Brewing that introduced their new brew master – Rich Armacher.
Now the rumors seem to be public knowledge… so here it goes. The rumor we started hearing about a month ago was that Skip Madsen had left Water Street. He was one of the three original partners. We don’t know the details, and we probably shouldn’t. They’ve all poured a lot of their hearts into Water Street and whatever decision they reached, it probably wasn’t an easy one.
What we do know is that there was no bad blood. Anyone who knows Skip, Nina and Mark probably can’t imagine that there ever would be. They’re all really nice people. Business is business and friends are friends. Skip is a seriously skilled brewer and no doubt he’ll land somewhere else if that’s what he wants.
