A New Look for Skagit River Brewery's Beers

Last week we heard a rumor that Skagit River Brewery was going to change its logo. Brand recognition is very important in the beer business and changing the look of your labels or tap handles is not an insignificant thing. We heard the rumor from a credible source but wanted confirmation.
It just so happened that we were in Mount Vernon last Thursday afternoon and stopped by the Skagit River Brewery to have some lunch and fill a few growlers. As luck would have it, Mike Armstrong was also having lunch at the bar. Mike is the director of brewing operations at Skagit (the actual title on his business card is “Wholesale/Production Manager”).
Sure enough, Mike told us that to promote a consistent brand across their many products, Skagit River Brewing is introducing a new logo – a new brand. The picture below of the brown ale bottle is an example of how they will incorporate the new logo into their labels.

We are not sure about the schedule for the complete transformation. As you can see, the latest Skagit Brown Ale bottles are already using it, so we assuming this is going to happen fairly quickly. One thing that won’t change is the Scullers IPA branding. Scullers is already a very strong and widely recognized brand. No sense messing with that.
