New & Seasonal Beer Releases, Including a Party Tonight at the Latona Pub

Spring has now officially sprung. Along with a new baseball season, baby ducks, tulips and more daylight, spring brings a host of new and seasonal beer releases. Below I list some of these releases. Some of the beers are available now; others will be available soon. I provide some information about availability but am otherwise leaving you to your own devices when it comes to finding these beers. Obviously, some will be more widely available than others.

If you have any additional information, or if you know of other new/seasonal beer releases, please do not hesitate to leave a comment and share what you know. I’m sure that I missed a few.

Sound Brewery – Latona Anniversary IPA

This is the fourth in the series of beers being brewed by various local breweries to celebrate the Latona Pub‘s (blog sponsor) 25th Anniversary. The release party for the Sound Brewery Latona IPA is tonight at the pub (8:00). For more information about the ongoing celebration at the Latona, click here. Available at the Latona only.

The Maybock is a Spring Lager, light copper in color, with a medium bitterness dissolving into a caramel and toast malt flavor. You should be able to get this beer at the Jolly Roger Taproom (and likely at other locations as well) very soon.

Join Airways Brewing at the Beer and Bistro in Kent on April 18th at 5:30 pm for the second release in the brewery’s collaboration series: Starliner Stout with Oak Chips Soaked in Raspberry Liqueur from Sidetrack Distillery. I’ve had the Sidetrack Raspberry Liqueur and it is amazing. I can only imagine how the beer will turn out. This is a small-batch beer. Best advice, go to the release party at the Bistro on April 18th.

Two Beers Brewing – Three Beers for the Season

Descriptions from Two Beers:

Crooked Belgian Wit – 17 IBUs; 5.2% ABV
A seasonal favorite since it was first brewed in 2007, this lively and refreshing ale is brewed with fresh ground coriander and dried orange peel. Characterized by its distinctive cloudy appearance and authentic Belgian yeast strain, the Crooked Belgian Wit is available in draft at the Two Beers Brewing tasting room – where it can at times be found infused with grapefruit, orange and lemon– as well as select bars and restaurants throughout Washington state.

Panorama Wheat – 12 IBUs; 4.6% ABV
The Panorama Wheat is a bright, crisp crystal wheat beer with a natural citrus flavor. Best served with a slice of lemon, this American Crystal Wheat was first brewed in April 2011. Panorama Wheat is available on draft March – August and 12-ounce aluminum cans year-round. This beer can often be found infused with ginger and lime at the Two Beers Brewing tasting room and select beer festivals.

Trailhead ISA – 48 IBUs; 4.8% ABV
First introduced in the summer of 2011, this Northwest India-style Session Ale (ISA) is aggressively dry‐hopped with Palisade and Cascade hops, and brewed with light crystal and honey malts. Offering floral and earthy flavors, Trailhead ISA is a hoppy, crisp beer perfect for sharing and enjoying with friends. Find it on draft June – August and in 12-ounce aluminum cans year-round.

Odin Brewing – Bourbon Aged Thor’s Equinox- Belgian Dark Strong

They introduced this beer at the Beveridge Place Pub (blog sponsor) last week.

Elysian Brewing – Loser Pale Ale and Others

Now in its fourth year, Loser Pale Ale is brewed to celebrate Sub Pop Records anniversary. Six-packs of Loser will hit shelves on May 1. Look for it in local stores cool enough to carry it.

Split Shot Imperial Milk Stout – This is the 2012 Seattle Beer Week beer. It is due out mid to late April.

PESTE Chocolate Chili Ale. Peste will be available on draft and in bottles with labels featuring the artwork of comic artist Charles Burns from his weirdly apocalyptic Black Hole series. This is the fourth in a series: 12 Beers of the Apocalypse. The release party is at Elysian Tangletown on April 21.

Prometheus IPA is on the way. Stay tuned to Elysian’s website, Facebook, etc for upcoming details.
