I have just updated our list of Washington Breweries and Brewpubs to include all of the microbreweries currently licensed in the state. We have added a total of 11 entries and removed one, so really the net total is nine, with eight new breweries. Sufficiently confused? I thought so. By our counting, there are now 160 breweries in Washington.
Basically, we’ve added nine new breweries, removed one, and made a couple other enteries. Elysian Brewing’s new production facility is up and running in Seattle but we can’t really count Elysian as a new brewery. Airways Brewing recently opened the Airways Beer and Bistro, but it isn’t really a brewery. Still confused? I thought so.
The list below shows the breweries that were added today or in the past few weeks. Kenmore’s 192 Brewing has been removed from the list. Always sad to lose a brewery. Such is life.

All of the usual caveats apply. Our list is based on the Washington State Liquor Control Board’s list of licensed microbreweries. It includes a couple of non-brewing pubs which serve as official outlets for their respective breweries–Pillagers Pub in Seattle and Airways Beer and Bistro in Kent (that’s why there are 162 and not 160 on the list). We know that some of these breweries are probably inactive; we include them because they are licensed and we have not, or cannot, confirm the status of their operation. How you decide to count the number of breweries in Washington might be different. This is how we count them.
