Outer Planet Brewing opens on Capitol Hill

Last night we attended a preview event at Outer Planet Craft Brewing, Seattle’s newest brewery. Today at 4:30 the brewery opens its tasting room to the public. Expect to find seven beers on tap, though some are limited supply and expected to go fast.

Outer Planet brews on a three-barrel system, feeding a pair of six-barrel fermenters. A third fermenter is on the way. The beers range in styles from blond ale to barleywine. My personal favorites were the ESB and the Bohemian Pilsner. The latter is apparently brewed “Kolsch-style.”

You’ll find Outer Planet at 1812 12th Ave, Seattle (map), not far from Cal Anderson Park in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. The plan will eventually see the brewery open seven days a week, but to start they’ll likely only be open Thursday thru Saturday, otherwise they’d run out of beer in a flash. Keep an eye on the Facebook page as things progress.
