An Overwhelming Success! Bremerton Summer Brewfest

Perhaps it was because of the excellent weather, which we so sorely deserved. Or perhaps it was because the USS John C. Stennis (a Nimitz-class supercarrier with 6,500 officers and crew) just happened to be in port. Perhaps it was simply because the west side of Puget Sound was in dire need of its own beer festival. Whatever the reason, the attendance at the inaugural Bremerton Summer Brewfest nearly doubled expectations. The event organizers expected (hoped for) 2,500 people. They ended up having something closer to 4,000. The actual number was 3,920.

Reports from last Saturday’s inaugural Bremerton Summer Beerfest are coming in. From all accounts, it was a great festival. The weather was perfect, the beer was good, and the crowd was well behaved. Organizers now hope that Bremerton will invite them back for a second year.

Kurt Larsen of Bremerton’s Silver City Brewing kept his finger tightly on the pulse of this festival. He was instrumental in bringing all of the involved parties together to make this festival happen. According to Larsen, “All parties involved–the Mayor, the brewers, the Washington Beer Commission, the Bremerton Police, and the local businesses–were very happy with the turnout and the results. It was a great day for Washington beer and a great day for Bremerton.”

A Great Day for Washington Beer

“The inaugural Bremerton Summer BrewFest was a tremendous success for the Washington Beer Commission and the participating breweries,” said Eric Radovich, Executive Director of the Washington Beer Commission. “Perfect weather, a very well behaved crowd that was nearly twice as large as we had hoped for, outstanding live music and of course some of the best beers on earth.”

“Thanks to the city of Bremerton for inviting us. There is no doubt that the Kitsap Peninsula loves Washington craft beer. We would love to do it again next summer,” concluded Radovich.
