Newton holds a degree in Environmental Sciences with a focus on water quality and habitat restoration, a course of study that provided her with a foundation in chemistry and laboratory analysis. She built a half-barrel home brewing system and has designed her recipes from scratch. Many of them have an herbal component to “give the world something different, something that used to be well received and consumed but has become rare,” said Newton. Those recipes include Yarrow Ale, Labrador Tea Ale and St. Valentine’s Intimacy Lager which utilizes Lady’s Mantle, rose petals and Ceylon cinnamon, among other ingredients.

“We’re excited to work with Ginga and look forward to providing new and challenging experiences for her,” said Matt Lincecum, Founder/Owner of Fremont Brewing Company. “Hats off to Pink Boots for selecting such an impressive candidate to launch this scholarship program!”
