Portland's Laurelwood Brewery Coming to Washington

Portland’s Laurelwood Brewing Company is well-decorated and well-respected. In fact, their Workhorse IPA won the 2009 National IPA Championship (NIPAC). We just learned that Laurelwood will soon be distributing some of their product in Western Washington. While we normally focus on Washington beer, sales of Laurelwood’s Prevale IPA will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society — a cause that is near and dear to our heart.

This is what Chad Kennedy, Laurelwood’s head brewer, said about Prevale IPA recently,

Stats are 15 Plato Original Gravity. 6.7% ABV. IBUs around 70. Color wise it’s on the orange end of the IPA spectrum thanks to a shot of dark crystal malt- which also helped create a nice malt backbone for this hoppy beer. We kind of went back to our roots on this one and used hefty doses of Cascade and Centennial hops. The beer was also dry hopped with Centennials for an extra aroma kick. Bottles are going to our distributors so they will be available throughout Oregon and Western Washington. That’s right- we will be selling beer in Seattle starting next month.
