Coming to America – Meet Central City Brewers

Great Artisan Beverage Company just announced that it will begin distributing beer from Central City Brewers across the Pacific Northwest. Located in Surrey, British Columbia, Central City Brewers is perhaps best recognized as producer of the Red Racer brands of beer, which should not be confused with Bear Republic Brewing’s Red Rocket Ale or Racer 5 IPA. Central City’s Red Betty line of beers are what will be available down here in the states. I want to make it clear that Great Artisan is adding the Red Betty line of beers to its portfolio. Nothing with the word “racer” in the name. Any resemblance to any kind of competitive motorsports is purely coincidental. I am not an attorney, but think I made my point.

The brewery has won many medals and awards up in Canada for its “Red Whatever” beers. Also, it was named Brewery of the Year in 2010 and 2012 by the Canadian Brewing Awards. Central City Brewers was founded in 2003 as a brewpub, began canning its product in 2005, but has really picked up steam (and a lot of medals) in recent years.

Great Artisan Beverage Company is the craft beer arm of the Odom Corporation, a wholesale beverage distributor headquartered in Bellevue, with offices across the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. (My description, not theirs). Great Artisan distributes beers from breweries like Fremont, Diamond Knot, Silver City, Oakshire, Speakeasy, Laurelwood, 21st Amendment, and many others. Six companies combine to make up the Great Artisan family: Odom Corporation, Marine View Beverage, Sound Beverage Distributors, Craig Stein Beverage, General Distributors, and Bigfoot Beverages.
