This Saturday: Bremerton Brewfest, Gig in Gig Harbor, Beer Releases, More…

This Saturday, July 21st may go down as the busiest Saturday in local beer history. You have no excuse: you must get out and do something. Mowing the lawn and cleaning the garage can wait until Sunday. But wait, there’s something happening Sunday as well. Our list of things to do provides you with no less than 6 options for Saturday alone. If you behave responsibly, you could even combine a couple of these events. I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s other stuff happening that I failed to mention. If so, please leave a comment and tell us about it.

I am obliged to provide a shameless plug for my band, Four on the Floor. We have a Gig in Gig Harbor this weekend. We will be performing at 7 Seas Brewing’s Anniversary Bash on Saturday. More details below.

Bremerton Summer Brewfest: The event runs from Noon until 9:00 and features more than 60 beers from 25 Washington breweries. The Washington Beer Commission presents the second annual Bremerton Summer Brewfest on the streets of downtown, just a few steps away from the ferry terminal. Walk on the ferry in Seattle and you will have no trouble finding the festival on the other side. Buy tickets in advance and get a free pint. Well, not really but you will save $5.00 and you can use that to buy a pint somewhere. This is a 21+ event. http://www.washingtonbeer.com/bremerton-summer-brewfest/

7 Seas Anniversary Bash: The party runs from Noon until 8:00. Come hungry, come thirsty, come ready to rock. You probably don’t know that I’m the lead singer in a rock band. Well this is your chance to see me prove it. Down in Gig Harbor, 7 Seas Brewing will celebrate its third anniversary with a big bash in the parking lot. This is a big deal. I swear, all of Gig Harbor shows up. The first two anniversary parties were crazy in the best possible way: big crowds, great live music, and tons of killer beer. All this served alongside great barbecue food. This year will be much the same. My band, Four on the Floor, hits the stage at 6:00. That’s right, we’re the closing act. Join us and marvel as we crank out classic rock covers from bands like ZZ Top, Led Zeppelin, Grand Funk Railroad, AC/DC, and many others. This is a 21+ event. http://www.facebook.com/events/434449706578450/

Elysian’s 12 Beer of the Apocalypse: Join Elysian Brewing Company at its Tangletown pub (3:00 – 6:00) to celebrate the release of Torrent Pale Beet Bock, the seventh beer in the apocalypse series. The Mayan calendar predicts that the world will end on December 20, 2012, so Elysian is creating a series of beers to prepare us for the apocalypse. Elysian encourages you to come wearing themed attire. Dress up in your best survival gear or apocalypse outfit, come costumed as a mutant underwater creature, or just look like you got swept away by the torrent. Remember, the end is beer! http://www.elysianbrewing.com/events.html

The PNA Summer Beer Taste: Support The Phinney Neighborhood Association by drinking beer and eating brats. This outdoor event runs from 4:00 – 7:00 in the parking lot at the Phinney Neighborhood Center. More than 20 breweries will be pouring this year. Tickets are available online, along with more information about the event. This is a 21+ event. http://www.phinneycenter.org/events/beer_summer.shtml

Scottish Ale Release and Great Kilted Race Kickoff: At 4:00, the Big Time will celebrate the release of Big Time Scottish Ale with a Grand Kickoff Party from 4:00 – 7:00. They’ll be throwing down some delicious ales and listening to the music of Heavy Hammer. Big Time Scottish Ale is a Scottish Export Style Ale that is light on hops but full of malty goodness. This recipe was based on a recipe Bill Jenkins first brewer in 2008, Barking Dog Scottish Ale, which won a gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival. The release of this beer is in celebration of the Great Kilted Run, which takes place on August 5th at Magnuson Park in Seattle. Before, during, and after the race, Big Time will be the featured beer in the event’s beer garden: Big Time Scottish Ale and Icculus India Pale Ale will be available to the runners and spectators. http://www.facebook.com/events/430164017027930/

Bite of Seattle: Although it is not really a beer event, this year for the first time the beer garden will be pouring Washington beers. We are very proud of the Bite for making this important change. As we reported a few days ago, you’ll be able to enjoy local beer to accompany your local food. It just makes sense. See our previous post.

SUNDAY, JULY 22

Brewers by the Bay: Sunday in Bellingham, 1:00 – 5:00. Bellingham Bay Rotary presents the 6th annual Brewers by the Bay beer festival. The event features 60 beers from 30 local brewers. The event location takes place at the Depot Market Square in downtown Bellingham (right across the street from Boundary Bay Brewing). The event is a fundraiser with proceeds benefitting organizations such as Northwest Youth Services, Whatcom Hospice House, Bellingham Boys & Girls Club and other youth- and family-focused charities throughout Whatcom County. http://www.bellinghambayrotary.com/

Beers for Boobs: One of our favorite Beer Broads, Anastasia Logan, and her friend Patti are walking the Breast Cancer 3-Day this year and they need your help. You don’t have to walk the 60 miles with her. They just ask that you stop by Black Raven Brewing this Sunday night and drink some beer. Read our post about this event.
