Scuttlebutt Brewing Earns Top Honors at National Barleywine Competition

As the Barleywine Bacchanal rolls on at the Beveridge Place Pub (blog sponsor), we have some other barleywine news to report. Scuttlebutt Brewing Company’s Old #1 Barleywine recently won the 9th Annual Coles Barleywine Competition. The event was held last month at Coles Restaurant in Buffalo, New York. It is organized and promoted by the Brewing News. This year’s competition featured 35 barleywines from breweries around the country, but it was Everett’s own Scuttlebutt Brewing that earned top honors.

The competition was stiff and included entries from notable breweries like Alesmith Brewing, Boulder Beer Company, Smuttynose Brewing, Elysian Brewing, Stone Brewing, Cigar City Brewing, and others. Last year’s winner was Bolt Cutter from Founders Brewing.
