Signs of Life in Chilliwack

We found two surprising things in Chilliwack, BC. One, the traffic is horrible. Two, they have a great little brewery.

We just stopped in and visited Larry and Brian at Old Yale Brewing Company. HOPS! Yes, really. The pale ale (single hopped with Cascades) is simple and delicious. The IPA is as aggressively hopped as many of the beers we are used to back home. Larry the brewmaster recognizes that he hops with a heavier hand than many of his Canadian brewing bretheren.

They sell beer in 22s, Party Pigs, 1/4 barrels and 1/2 barrels. Larry served us samples of his lager, pale, IPA and stout. We liked them all and got some double deuces to go.

We look forward to seeing Old Yale again when (someday) we make it to the Okanogan Beer Fest in Penticton.
