Special Brews Announces Plans for 3rd Anniversary Celebration

Special Brews in Lynnwood celebrates its third anniversary with a chili cook-off on Saturday, June 7th. The competition pits a number of local and not-so-local breweries against each other in culinary battle. In all, 25 local and not-so-local breweries and beer suppliers intend to serve up their finest chili.

Along with chili and beer, the day’s activities include a ring-toss for beer swag and a silent auction. All proceeds from the event benefit Camp Eyabsut, a summer camp program benefiting burn-injured youth. More details provided in the press release below.

Lynnwood, WA, 5/21/2014 — Do you like chili and/or craft beer? Special Brews Bottleshop(21+ only, no children or babies please) is celebrating their Anniversary with the Third Annual Chili Cook Off: Battle of the Breweries on Saturday June 7th. With a suggested cash donation of $5, participants will gain access to taste all the chilis and vote for their favorite! There will be an outdoor beer garden, chili tasting and judging starts at 12PM(Noon) with all votes in by 2PM winners will be announced shortly after.

More activities during the day include a Silent Auction (preview the items at www.specialbrews.com) from 12 – 2PM and a charity ring toss for beer schwag! Last year over $5k was raised for Camp Eyabsut, the goal is to exceed it!

The number of breweries participating in the chili battle have doubled this year, 25 challengers include21st Amendment, Airways, American, Backwoods, Big Time, Deschutes, Diamond Knot, Everybody’s Brewing, Firestone Walker, Foggy Noggin, Fremont, Gallagher’s WhereUBrew, Iron Horse, Mac n’ Jacks, Merchant du Vin, New Belgium, Ninkasi, Oskar Blues, Reuben’s Brews, Schooner Exact, Scuttlebutt, Sierra Nevada, Skagit River, and Stone Brewing.

Reigning Champion Lyn Elton of Radeberger will return to defend his title of Chili King AND Best Beer in Lynnwood! There will also be a Special Brews charity dice tournament starting at 3PM, entry fee of $10.

All participants must sign up prior to June 7th, there will be a few additional spots available the day of to be raffled off. Top three prizes valued over $300! Sign ups in store only.

About Camp EyabsutCamp

Eyabsut is a positive summer camp experience that benefits burn-injured youth. A place where children, ages 7 to 17, can come together to laugh, grow and encourage each other while building lifelong friendships!

Camp provides an opportunity for these campers to share their experiences with others and gives them a sense of being a part of a supportive family and community! In an atmosphere focused on fun and recreation, the objective of Camp Eyabsut is to “enhance the self-esteem of every child and to enrich their physical, social and psychological growth.”

Kids come from all across the Pacific Northwest for 2 weeks in July. This experience stays with them for a lifetime!
